Firewood - Who looses more and more of his own destructive ego may gain in value after all

Firewood
(..06050631-0639,2209120806-0815)

I am a large piece
of firewood.
My owner
was just about ready
to cut me to pieces
so that I would fit
in his fireplace.
Then a hiker came by
and realized immediately
that I had the ideal qualities
to be able to
carve something nice out of me.
After a bit of convincing
I changed hands.
Through that I did not end up
in the fireplace
but in the workshop.
Piece by piece
was taken from me.
I got smaller and smaller.
However I did not
lose any value –
the opposite was true.
When I was done,
I was a statue
of the wood maker.
